ABOUT

manchester school of art 2011-2014

My practice takes an experimental, mixed-media embroidery approach to exploring a particular concept, that I initially develop through photography and drawing at the beginning of a project. I am interested in working with unconventional materials to create contemporary samples for either a fashion or interiors context.

My current project was inspired by the photographs I had taken on a trip to New York City, taking note of the architectural elements and buildings, in addition to the grid layout of the streets featured on maps and in the city. Architecture and The City, is a common theme I have explored in many of my projects throughout my time at university, in addition to other structural forms such as Crystal Formation. I have produced a portfolio which demonstrates a variety of materials, themes and processes. I often explore a combination of processes within my work, such as mixed media embroidery, embellishment/beading and digital print.
